Summer Science and Arts Academy
Pottery, renewable energy, astronomy, robotics, aeronautical engineering and painting are just some of the many exciting topics students entering grades 1 through 8 can investigate in through the district’s summer program – the Science and Arts Academy. This year’s program runs July 5 through July 28 at Snohomish High School (1315 Fifth Street in Snohomish). Classes are held Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Note: During the July 4-8 session classes will be held Tuesday through Friday due to holiday.) Click here for more information.
Smarter Balanced Assessment
Everyone on our staff is working hard to prepare your child/children, and we want to share our school’s testing schedule with you! Our school will be testing May 16th – 27th.
The Smarter Balanced assessment tests the Washington State Learning Standards (Common Core State Standards) in English/language arts (ELA) and mathematics. The science MSP tests proficiency of our Washington science standards. Starting kindergarten is an exciting and important event in the life of your child, and we look forward to sharing in that event with you!
A parent meeting will be held on Thursday, May 19, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Cathcart Elementary School, in kindergarten classroom 201, located straight across from the school office.
Our principal and kindergarten teachers will be sharing information about our kindergarten program including curriculum, play, and what you can expect the school day and the school year to look like.

The state of Washington is providing the funding for the full-day kindergarten program for ALL students beginning with the 2016-17 school year. This means there will not be any tuition costs for families. The program is entirely state-funded for ALL kindergarten students. Please click here for more information about our kindergarten program. HIT A HOMERUN IN READING!!!
The Aqua Sox 2016 “Hit a Homerun in Reading” program is a free, incentive based, month long reading program sponsored by the Everett Aqua Sox.
Cathcart Elementary students in grades K – 4 will begin this program on Monday, May 2nd. Weekly prizes, along with a FREE ticket to a game, will be awarded to all who choose to participate and reach their classroom goal.
Cathcart’s game will be on Thursday, June 23, 2016 which also happens to be the Frog’s HOME OPENER @ Memorial Stadium!
