Smarter Balanced Assessment
This spring, your student will take the Smarter Balanced Assessment in math and English Language Arts. Students in grades 5 and 8 will also take the Measurements of Student Progress (MSP) in science.
This is the second year our state and district will administer the Smarter Balanced assessment. The results from these tests will help us to understand how your child is performing on grade level standards.
This year, we worked with building and district stakeholders to determine the best possible testing environment for our students. We were able to create schedules that will limit the testing window for each of our buildings to only two weeks. All Snohomish students will take the tests online this year. Our school is scheduled to take the tests May 16-27
For more information about the tests and to try out a practice test yourself, visit www.k12.wa.us/smarter.
Thank you for continuing to work with us to make sure your child is successful. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to better support your child. We want your child to leave us with a solid foundation of skills and a future full of opportunities.
Cougar Wear Recycling Program
Do you have Cathcart Spiritwear that your children have outgrown?
We would appreciate donations of gently worn items that can be passed on to younger Cathcart students. Items may be brought to the school office.
Changes to End of the Day
Please pre-arrange end-of-day changes, such as bus or parent pick-up, by sending a signed and detailed note with your child. Having this information in the morning allows us to get messages to our teachers during breaks rather than interrupting classes during the school day. Thank you!
Kindergarten registration for the 2016-2017 school year will begin Tuesday, January 26. We are excited to share that in 2016 – 2017, all kindergarten classes in the Snohomish School District will follow a full-day format. The state of Washington is providing the funding for the full-day kindergarten program. This means there will not be any tuition costs for families. The program is entirely state-funded for ALL kindergarten students. Please click here for more information about our kindergarten program.
You may register for Kindergarten at Cathcart any day during school hours. Our office will also be open during conferences for registration on March 29 and March 30 until 7 p.m..
