Counselor' Corner - Gretchen Lilly
I have been visiting our kindergarten, first, and second grade classes once a week teaching Kelso’s Choices lessons. Kelso’s Choices is a program that teaches children the necessary skills to solve developmentally appropriate problems. Problems such as: kids cutting in line, children not sharing, and students using unkind words. It supports students in becoming problem solvers. It builds life skills that help them feel capable so that they can contribute to supporting others and solving problems.
Girls in the fifth and sixth grade have the opportunity to drop in at lunch recess once a week to share what’s on their minds and lift each other up in our I Am That Girl group. IATG is an organization with 160 chapters around the world that promotes positive relationships and positive self-talk. Every fifth and sixth grade girl is invited, and may attend at any time.
Parents of 5th & 6th Grade Students
During the week of December 14, fifth and sixth grade students at Cathcart Elementary will receive a lesson focusing on the K.N.O.W. HIV/AIDS curriculum. Parents will be receiving a letter from the school with more information soon.
There will be a HIV/AIDS and Growth and Development informational meeting for all parents of 5th and 6th grade students at the RSC, 1601 Avenue D, Snohomish, on Wednesday, December 2, 2015. Parent Pick-Up and Drop Off Reminders
We have received lots of positive feedback on our new morning drop-off procedures. We are able to unload multiple cars quickly and safely. We appreciate your patience as you follow staff direction and drop off ONLY in the west parking lot as designated.
Afternoon pick-up is located in our small east playground. Please be sure to park in a designated parking spot and then walk to meet your student on the playground.
Your child’s safety is a top priority!
